What Is an Andon Display?

Andon displays, also known as andon panels, are error-prevention and production-monitoring systems that have long been used on production lines, especially in Japanese automotive manufacturing. Andon displays (production tracking screens) are installed in factory production areas and show production data at a glance. These displays must feature panels suitable for 24/7 operation and withstand the humidity, dust and temperature of the working environment.

Digitalization on the factory floor means recording every piece of data generated during production in a database (an ERP system) and managing that data with software and technology. Andon displays, as part of this digitalization, project that data onto screens in real time.
