Video Wall Types Explained

Video walls can be built with screens of different sizes. The most commonly used video wall type today is the LCD panel. Screen sizes are typically 46", 49" and 55". The most critical and distinguishing feature of video wall displays is the bezel thickness at the seams where the panels meet. Video wall models are available with bezels ranging from 0.88 mm up to 3.5 mm.

Panel-Based Video Wall

Samsung is the leader in LCD panel-based video wall manufacturing. These systems use flat panels with bezels much narrower than those on standard TVs. LCD panel-based video walls are more cost-effective than rear-projection cubes and LED walls. LCD panel-based video walls must be carefully calibrated during installation, otherwise color differences may appear between panels. Video wall panels are built from durable components capable of 24/7 operation. Panels are connected to one another in a daisy-chain layout and can be expanded to any required size.

LED Wall

LED technology has been in use for many years and is especially common in outdoor displays. The same technology used indoors is referred to as a LED Wall. LED technology has become one of the most preferred video wall types in professional display systems, particularly as pixel pitches have dropped to very fine levels.
